Saone's debacle in Lyon (France)

Obviously, it's not the débacle of the Lena, and the saone (france) was not frozen either as in 1956 (see the film on the site of the INA(NATIONAL AUDIOVISUAL INSTITUTE))...

However, the second "river" of Lyon (the third being the beaujolais as each knows) is not so often taken by ices between the quays of the city (in particular because of its debit).

About ten days with (very) negative temperature which we have just lived renewed the phenomenon, disrupting de facto the navigation but offering an infrequent show to the inhabitants of Lyon and the tourists.

I arrived just at the beginning of the débacle, here are some photos taken between the Saint Georges footbridge and the Kitchener Marchand bridge...

Glance of one geographer on the Bolivian international migrations

A very interesting blog held by Audrey Gauvin, Geographer, presenting a study on the migrations of Bolivian families. This work which lasted 6 years and matched long missions (Cochabamba, Buenos Aires, Ushuaïa) is presented by Audrey and contains numerous cartographic elements. The report is accessible in PDF format.

I indicate that the blog is trilingual.

Mauguio (France), 1000 years history

Mauguio is a medieval city located in the South of France. It was born 1000 years ago thanks to the counts of Melgueil. They developed the trade and created their own money which will be used in all low Languedoc and which we shall find even in east. Mauguio prospered for several centuries.

Of this glorious past, the city keeps the circular streets typical of medieval towns, medieval hill and traces of walls but also the pride of a long history. Every year in the city take place summer votive festivals. Much more than elsewhere, in Mauguio we found religious and cultural traditions which the city has become the guardian.
